Sails : Flying Fifteen

Speed Sails have a wealth of experience in the Flying 15 class including winning the UK National title. The Speed Flying 15 sails use this experience plus information gathered from over 25 years of producing championship winning sails to make sure that they provide excellent performance in all conditions.

SAILS:    

Mainsail: Manufactured from NEW Contender RS5 cloth. Sail comes complete with battens, sailnumbers, saibag etc. Please specify mast type when ordering sail.

Genoa: Speed Sails offer a choice of genoas, both manufactured from the NEW Contender RS5 cloth. The G1 genoa is our standard genoa. We also manufacture a flatter G2 sail for inland and lightweight sailors.

Spinnaker: Maunfactured from AirX 700. Two cuts of sail are available - the S1 is the standard spinnaker while the S2 is a flatter option available for lighter crews. Both have a radial foot to provide extra stability in the sail while reaching. Please specify whether chute or bags are used

SPARS:

We have a stock of both Superspar M2 and Proctor Epsilon sleeved masts in the workshop.

They are available either as bare masts or fully rigged.

We also keep a supply of boom and spinnaker poles, and manufacture replacement shrouds, kickers etc.

Speed Sails : Scorpion

Speed Sails have an enviable record in the Scorion class and the new laminate design introduced in 2008 was an instant hit winning the 2008 National championships at Abersoch. The sails have already claimed 3 open victories in the first few months of 2009 with both the laminate and dacron mainsails tasting success.

SAILS:         

Laminate mainsail:   Dimension Polyant ODL06 - produced with Technora© Black in the warp and fill achieving an unmatched strength and durability, longer than any other Kevlar cloth. With the extra wide X-PLY angle of 22 degrees and Technora© Black as X-PLY material this cloth shows very low stretch levels and outstanding shape holding durability. Sail comes complete with sail bag, battens, numbers & cunningham block.

Mainsail: 180 HTP+ Dimension Polyant - Excellent all round mainsail that has proven successful across a range of crew weights. A cost effective alternative to the laminate mainsail, it comes complete with sail bag, battens, numbers, cunningham block and Speed Scorpion tuning guide. 

Jib: 180 HTP+ Dimension Polyant; Comes complete with window, t ell tales & sail bag. Tack of jib can be cut for either stuff luff or standard raking system. 

Spinnaker: AirX 700; Radial foot helps to provide extra stability in the sail. Seams are glued for boats with spinnaker bags or glued & sewn for chute systems to provide extra durability. Sail comes complete with sail bag & sail numbers.

SPARS: 

Our workshop has a large stock of Proctor Cumulus & Superspar M7 Scorpion masts ready to dispatch either as bare sections or fully rigged. We also keep a large supply of spinnaker poles and manufacture replacement shrouds, halyards, cascade kickers etc. for delivery by our mail order department.

Prices include VAT and sails come complete with sail bags, numbers, logos, windows, tell tales, battens, all eyelets and fittings where appropriate. Jibs can be cut for either standard or stuff luff raking system and spinnakers are finished to suit either bag or chute systems.

Speed Sails have managed to stay at the front of the GP14 class for over 25 years now, a feat achieved through constant development and refinement. 2007 was no different with Richard Estaugh and Simon Potts using the latest sail design to win the GP14 Nationals with a day to spare. 

SAILS:               

Mainsail: 3.8oz Contender Polykote; Tested on both the Superspar M7 and Proctor D masts this sail is the most successful GP14 mainsail ever designed. Comes complete with battens, sailbags, numbers.

Genoa 4.46oz Contender Polykote; Designed to avoid sacrificing power while still maintaining maximum height upwind. Sail can be cut for either through deck or standard jib sheeting systems. Comes complete with sailbag.

Speed Sails : Enterprise

Over the past 15 years, Speed Sails have dominated the Enterprise fleet winning more World & National titles than any other sailmaker. With all of the top 10 from the 2005 World Championship (held in 2006) and 6 of the top 10 from the 2006 World Championship using Speed Sails they have repeatedly demonstrated the extra edge that they can give.

The latest Speed Enterprise sails have undergone testing throughout 2007 and are now made to an improved design. The new cut sails helped Richard Estaugh & Pete Rowley to 2nd at the Nationals after a year out while Jonathan Woodward & Alex Halliwell used the sails to finish 2nd at the World Championships and win the National traveller's series.

Speed Sails : Albacore

Speed Sails have been closely involved with the Albacore class for the last decade producing National Championship winning sails. In 2007 developments in sail shape have led to increased performance across the conditions and saw victory in the European Championships.

Speed Sails : Fireball

Following the introduction of the new mainsail cloth in 2007 Speed fireball sails have claimed the National, European and World titles. With ongoing development since then 2009 has already seen Speed Sails winning at National events. Latest developments include a fuller jib entry and modified jib leech to help promote planing upwind quicker.

Sails:               

Mainsail: ODL06: produced with Technora© Black in the warp and fill achieving an unmatched strength and durability, longer than any other Kevlar cloth. Jib: Now made from NEW Contender RS4 cloth for extra durability. The new jib material extends the competitive life of your sail without reducing performance. Comes complete with sail bag. 

Spinnaker: Contender Superkote 75: With a radial bottom, this sail provides the best all round performance and stability while reaching and running. Seams are glued for smoother shape while retaining its strength. Lighter materials are available on request though are not as popular. Comes complete with sail bag and sail numbers.
